A Journey of Devotion and Guidance

At the age of 13, Saravanan, who had stopped consuming meat out of reverence for Vallal Peruman, served as an officer in the school education department at the district revenue level and retired. After retirement, he attended an Arutpa class held in Vadalur, where he received guidance from notable figures such as Professor Namachivayam, retired joint director of school education Rambandurangam, and Ku.Jothi. Under their guidance, he became a disciple of Vallal Peruman’s divine disciple, Iyaru Chidambara Swamigal.

Jyothi Nilayam Restoration

He renovated the Jyothi Nilayam in the village of Nataraja Pillai Savadi, constructing a shrine around the great soul’s samadhi and instructing followers to worship there. The renovation was carried out based on a resolution by the panchayat, leading to the construction of a 2500 square foot hall, which now functions as Jyothi Nilayam and a dharmashala.

One month before the consecration ceremony, in April 2022, the trust was established. Balu Pillai, who had served 25 years at Kalpattu Iyyar’s samadhi in Vadalur, along with retired officer Saravanan and local elders Venkatesan and Purushothaman, founded the trust, which began with the support of 26 noble individuals from the locality. The dharmashala started operating from 8-5-1922, initially serving meals to 50 people.
